Today was the first of what we hope will be many plantings sponsored by Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council from their Community Grant Scheme.
Members of the New Hall Valley Steering Group had made a request to extend a small orchard area, planted with BTFL a couple of years ago. Ultimately the objective is to slowly increase this orchard area to become a substantial ‘Community Orchard’.
A variety of Apple, Pear and Plum trees were planted by BTFL and we were joined on site by Councillor Alex Yip and a representative of the Friends of New Hall Valley Steering Group. Follow this link to see us all hard at work! It makes a real change to see us digging, as it is usually the Woodland Team who dig the holes for our large trees and pupils from local schools who plant the whips! Our thanks to the Steering Group for their request and also to Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council for funding this event.
